HEMSWORTH, Harold Joseph, ERA 5c, V37509, RCNVR, died - 08 Dec 1942, HMCS QUINTE - Son of Albert D. Hemsworth and Ida Hemsworth, of Halifax, NS.
Engine Room Artificer 5th Class H. J. Hemsworth while on shore leave accidentally drowned in St. Peter's Canal, St. Peter's, Nova Scotia. He is buried in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Bedford, NS.
Harold Hemsworth joined the RCNVR on May 15, 1942 and was an engineer in his civil life. He was born in Halifax Nova Scotia. He attended Oxford Street School before becoming an apprentice at HMC Dockyard. After making several trips to sea as a merchant seaman he enlisted in the Navy. Besides his parents he is survived by three brothers, Bernard and Donald at home and Joe at St. Mary's College and two sisters Mary and Catherine at home.
