MCGILVRAY, Peter, WT (E), RCNR, died - 19 Apr 1942, HMCS QUINTE - Husband of Jemima B. McGilvray, of Vancouver, BC.
Warrant Engineer Peter Mcgilvray failed to return to his ship after proceeding on shore at Halifax. His body was recovered from Halifax Harbour 07 Sep 1942. It is the opinion of the Medical Examiner and the naval authorities that his death was a result from drowning which, there being no evidence to the contrary, must be presumed to be an accident. He was buried in the Camp Hill Cemetery, Halifax, NS.
Peter's half-brother Douglas McGilvray was serving in HMCS DAUPHIN as Cox'n as the time of Peter's death.
