HARGREAVES, Norman James - Born May 6, 1923 in Vancouver passed away peacefully December 11, 2009 in Richmond at the age of 86. He is predeceased by his dearly beloved wife Ollie. He is survived and remembered by son Raymond, his wife Joan, granddaughters Kimberley and Heather. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Norm was an avid sailor: sailing with his wife Ollie along the B.C. Coast from the 1950s through 1990s on their yachts the ELCOA and NOLRAY. He was a member of the Richmond Yacht Club for many years and a post commodore. Norman served in the North Atlantic in HMCS EDMUNDSTON during WWII. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norm's memory may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.

Commenced Active Service 16 Mar 1942 HMCS ST HYACINTHE - Served in ST HYACINTHE 10 May 1942 - 15 Aug 1942 for training. Rated Ordinary Coder 14 Aug 1942. HMCS EDMUNDSTON - Served in EDMUNDSTON 11 Sep 1942 - 15 Dec 1944 as a Coder, RCNVR HMCS DISCOVERY - Drafted to Discovery 26 Feb 1945. Medically discharged 15 Mar 1945
