In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HANLON, John - A very good man left us this past Sunday and we will truly miss him….his wife and partner of 66 years, Audrey, sons Ward (Marlene), Glen (Keri), grandchildren Trace (Ali), Jackson and great granddaughter, Avery. John was born in Rivers, Manitoba. After a tour of duty with the Canadian Navy in World War II, Audrey and John married and moved to Brandon in 1949. He worked for the Canadian National Railway his entire career. However, his real passion in life was his family, friends and community. His community involvement was diverse. President of the Brandon Minor Baseball Association, President of the Brandon Credit Union, President of the Brandon Circle 8 Square Dance Club and President and Life Member of the Brandon Kiwanis. Along the way, he developed a huge gathering of friends and acquaintances. He was a curler, a golfer, a barber shop singer, and a sports fisherman. To Audrey’s joy, he loved to dance and as such, they were always the first on the dance floor. John’s Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 7th at the Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of John may be made to Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon, MB.
