COPELAND, Kathleen Mary (née SHAW) - Born in Hudderfield, Yorkshire, England, on Septmeber 23, 1926. Passed away February 22, 2022, in Dartmouth, due to pneumonia. "Kay" is survived by loving husband, Tom; sister, Dorothy, Fall River; plus nieces and nephews in Canada and the United Kingdom. Kay trained as a nurse in Sheffield and London, England during the early 1950's. She came to Canada shortly thereafter and nursed in northern Ontario using her midwife skills. She joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1955 and retired in 1971 to accompany her husband to Norther India/Pakistan for two years with the United Nations. From India, Kay lived three years in Brussels, Germany, plus another three years in Washington, D.C., before returning to Ottawa, Ont., in 1981. Kay and her husband settled in Dartmouth in 1984 after toms retirement. Kay was a proud Canadian citizen but never forgot her Yorkshire roots. Cremation has taken place.
