In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
TISDALL, Charles Patrick (Pat), P. Engineer - Born July 15, 1935, the first child of the late Admiral E.P. Tisdall and Eva Bond McIntosh of Victoria, BC at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Pat died at the RJH March 28, 2022 with his loving and much loved wife Sherrill Dobb, of 27 years, at his side. Thank you to Drs. Parhar & Bartlett and all of the amazing 7th floor nurses, doctors and staff at RJH for your kindness and care. Pat was accepted at Royal Roads Military College in 1952 and went on to join the Royal Canadian Navy, followed by two years at the Royal Navy Engineering College in Plymouth England with other Canadians, earning a degree as an aeronautical engineer. Pat retired from the Navy in 1967 as Lieutenant Commander after postings at Halifax, Montreal and Victoria, to join CP Air in Vancouver, where he joined the power plant engineering team. Pat retired from Air Canada as Manager, Power Plants Engineering in 1994 after a 27 year career with an unblemished air safety record of which he was very proud. In 1995, Pat and Sherrill designed and built a lovely waterfront home on Gabriola Island which they have called home ever since. Pat was a fantastic woodworker & his projects were always beautiful due to his life long commitment to his hobby. His furniture is in the homes of all his children. He also enjoyed fishing with his children at Kye Bay in his younger years and we all loved it. He was an accomplished bridge player, huge Canucks and F1 fan and took up golf in his 50's. The Gabriola Golf Club was the centre of Pat and Sherrill's social life. A special toast to the Friday Guys! Pat was predeceased by his sister Barbara in 2002, son James in 2019 and brother-in-law Mike Morres in 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Sherrill, children Pat, Christopher, Celia, Alan, David & Neil, their mother, Valerie, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. We all miss him and treasure our memories of Pat/Dad. (Victoria Times Colonist 23 Apr 2022)
