In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
LS James MacKenzie was serving in HMCS ANNAN when she sunk U-1006 on 16 Oct 1944. Sometime after the action, Jim returned home suffering from what we now call PTSD. He never returned back to ship.
Citation for the award of the Distinguished Service Medal: MacKENZIE, James Wilson McLeod, Leading Seaman, V24415, Distinguished Service Medal (DSM), RCNVR - Awarded as per Canada Gazette of 21 April 1945 and London Gazette of 20 March 1945. "For outstanding skill, courage and zeal in Anti-U-Boat operations while serving in H.M. Canadian Ship Annan."
