CAMPBELL, Lawrence Newton, PO, V14372, RCNVR, died - 09 Mar 1944, HMCS COLUMBIA, HMCS AVALON - Son of Archibald Burton and Evelyn Theresa Campbell, of Vancouver, BC; husband of Helen Louise Campbell, of Vancouver, BC.
PO Campbell died in the Royal Canadian Naval Hospital, St. John's NFLD on 09 Mar 1944 as a result of a fractured skull; an injury received during HMCS COLUMBIA'S accident at sea, when on 26 February 1944, due to heavy fog she rammed a cliff in Motion Bay, Nfld. PO Campbell is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, Newfoundland.
