Able Seaman C. F. Slingsby was lost overboard at sea from his ship HMCS COLUMBIA in very heavy seas.
Able Seaman Clifford Frederick Slingsby, has been lost at seas according to casualty lists received Sunday evening. His mother Mrs. Rose Slingsby of 1622 Elgin Avenue was informed that he was thrown from the deck of HMCS COLUMBIA by heavy seas. Born in Winnipeg 23 years ago, Able Seaman Slingsby was educated in city schools, graduating from Daniel McIntyre in 1937. Sometime later he was employed in the C.P.R. baggage rooms, where he worked until enlisting in the navy in the spring of 1941. Besides his mother he is survived by a younger brother Leslie, taking an air-frame mechanic's course in the R.C.A.F.
