BOYD, Harold Kelly, LSA, V37248, RCNVR, died - 09 Oct 1945, HMCS MAHONE - Brother of Mrs. Ralph Morrison, of Winnipeg.

LSA Harold K. Boyd drowned after jumping overboard from HMCS MAHONE into the harbour at Halifax, NS. It was ruled suicide by the Board of Inquiry. LSA Boyd suffered quite a lot from a skin disease affecting his legs and feet. He had stated on several occasions that, due to his long service on the ship he desired very much to stick with the ship until the end. He knew that his ailment was certain cause for hospitalization if he reported to the medical authorities, so he never brought the matter to the medical authorities. From all evidence available Board of Inquiry determined that Harold took his own life. He was a bookkeeper before he enlisted into the RCNVR on June 15 1942.
