He was appointed as an Ordinary Seaman RNVR (Hostilities Only) (With seniority dated 01/07/1942). He served in H.M.S. Raleigh (Officer Training Establishment) 1942. He served in H.M.S. Guillemot 1942. He served in H.M.S. King Alfred for Officer Training 1943, (CFR 01/06/1943), He was appointed as a Temporary Midshipman RNVR 01/06/1943. He served in H.M.S. King Alfred for Training 1943. He served in H.M.S. Stork 1943. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RNVR 1944. He served in H.M.S. Llangibby Castle for LCA 557 Flotilla as Navigating Officer 1944. He served in H.M.S. Cape Comorin 1944. He served in H.M.S. Riou 1944.

 

Transferred to RCNVR 01/09/1945. He was appointed as a Sub-Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 30/06/1944). He served in HMCS Crusader 1945. He was appointed as an A/Lieutenant (Temp.) RCNVR (With seniority dated 30/06/1945). He served in HMCS Naden 1946. He served in HMCS Uganda 1946. He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN(R) (With seniority dated 30/06/1945). (He was demobilized 1947). He served in HMCS Malahat (Active Reserve 1947-8), (Transferred to RCN 01/12/1948). He was appointed as a Lieutenant RCN (With seniority dated 22/12/1947). He served in HMCS Beaconhill and HMCS Cedarwood (In command) (Alternating Beaconhill (Summer) and Cedarwood (Winter)) 1949. He served in HMCS Cornwallis 1951. He served in HMCS Stadacona on Staff of Junior Officer Technical and Leadership Course 1952. He served in H.M.S. Dryad for Long Navigation Course 1953. He was qualified for Navigation and Direction duties in 1954. He served in HMCS Quebec as Directional Officer 1954. He served in HMCS Magnificent 1955. He was appointed as a Lieutenant-Commander RCN (With seniority dated 22/12/1955). He served in HMCS Naden as Officer-in-Charge NDTC 1955, Staff of Commander Second Canadian Destroyer Squadron 1957. He served in HMCS Assiniboine as Squadron Direction Officer 159. He served in HMCS Bytown on Staff of DAIN 1959. He served in HMCS Buckingham (In command) 1961. He served in HMCS Bonaventure on Staff of Commander Canadian Fleet 1963. He served in HMCS Niagara on Staff of Canadian Joint Staff (Washington) 1964. He was appointed as a Commander RCN (With seniority dated 27/05/1965). He served in HMCS Niagara on Staff of SACLANT HQ (Norfolk VA) 1965. He served in HMCS Nipigon (II) (In command) 1967. He served in HMCS Stadacona on Staff of MARCOM 1968. He served in HMCS Columbia (II) (In command) 1972. He served in HMCS Qu'Appelle (II) (In command) 1974-75

 

Retired 01/12/1975.  Transferred to the CF Naval Reserve, Commander (NR) (With seniority dated 27/05/1965). He served in HMCS Malahat 1975. He served as Commandant Naval Reserve Training Centre 1976-83. He was appointed as an A/Captain (NR). He was appointed as a Captain (NR) (With seniority dated 01/01/1983). He received the SACLANT Award for Outstanding Achievement 1967. He was qualified as a Convoy Commodore in 1978.
