HICKS, Oliver Dean, Petty Officer 2nd Class Steward, RCN, died 12 Nov 2014 - HMCS PRESERVER
Hicks, Oliver Dean - 48 of Dartmouth passed away Wednesday November 12, 2014. Born in Campbellford, Ontario he was a son of the late Melvin and Judith (Cassleman) Hicks. Dean was a loving husband of Janet (Steeves); sons, Stephan, Dartmouth, Alex, Halifax; brothers, Donnie Hicks, Brighton Ont., Dennis Hicks (Cathy), Trenton Ont., Dale Hicks, Trenton Ont.; sisters, Brenda Waters (Topper), Trenton Ont, Linda Lott (Gord), Frankford Ont.; grandmother Ruby Casselman, Brighton Ont.; parents-in- law Gordon and Heather Steeves, Moncton and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Dean proudly served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy for 29 plus years. He loved working in the gardens at home. He was also an avid fisherman and he loved his three dogs, Charlie, Fergie and Raistlin. He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Wednesday November 19 from 1:15pm to 1:45pm prior to the memorial service at 2pm at St. Brendan’s Chapel, Stadacona followed by a reception in Juno Tower C & PO’s Mess. Private family Interment to take place at a later date in Moncton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bosom Buddies of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
