MCEWEN, Dennis William Andrew L/Tel, V36117, RCNVR killed - 11 Apr 1945, HMCS STRATHADAM - Son of Andrew W. McEwen and Marion A. E. McEwen, of North Bend, British Columbia.

 

Leading Telegraphist D. W. McEwen was one of six members of the crew of HMCS STRATHADAM killed by a premature Hedgehog explosion on board the frigate during an attack on a suspected submarine. He is buried in the Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

HMCS KAMSACK - Served in KAMSACK 12 Apr 1942 - 18 Dec 1943 as an O/Tel, RCNVR

HMCS MATAPEDIA - Serve in MATAPEDIA 28 Jan 1944 - 21 Apr 1944 as a Tel (T.O.), RCNVR

HMCS ORKNEY - Drafted to ORKNEY 27 Oct 1944 as an A/L/Tel, RCNVR

HMCS LA HULLOISE - Transferred to LA HULLOISE 14 Feb 1945 with Squadron Staff

HMCS STRATHADAM - Transferred to STRATHADAM 20 Feb 1945 with Squadron Staff
