In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BENGERT, Kenneth J.W. - It is with profound sadness we announce that our beloved Ken passed away just days before his 84th birthday, with his loving wife holding his hand and son by his side. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Allen, son Zack (Katherine), daughter Yvonne, sisters Louise and Joyce (Darryl), stepsons Glenn (Maggie), Lee (Danica), Jeff (Mary), a combined family of 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many more family and friends in BC and Saskatchewan. Predeceased by sister Shirley, brothers-in-law Bert and Howard. Ken was born Holdfast, Saskatchewan, grew up in Regina, and then came west to join the Navy in 1956. He stayed in BC and later started a recycling business, he eventually sold to Waste Management. Ken loved his family and friends, lobster at the Keg, gnocchi at Roses, Jeff's lasagna, Yvonne's perogies, country dancing, going to the Legion, cruising the Caribbean, and the many long road trips he and Barb took in his van around and across North America, with Barb navigating the way. Branson Missouri was his favourite stop. He always looked forward to football and hockey season on TV, and hosting his annual Christmas parties. A special thanks to Eugene and Andrea at Oceanside who did everything they could to help Ken and Barb maneuver through Ken's journey with dementia, and to Liezyl and Riel at Clayton Heights Care Home who were so caring and compassionate with Ken during his final days. Ken is deeply missed, and forever in our hearts, but he is gone to be with his many good friends before him. No service at this time. in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ken's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of BC or Charity of Your Choice. (The Coquitlam Now 18 Aug 2022)
