In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McCULLY, George Lawrence - passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Ottawa, ON at the age of 92 years. Son of George Sherman McCully and Jessie May McCully (nee, Hubley) and loving husband to Annette McCully for 58 beautiful years until her death in August, 2017. Predeceased by his parents, older brother (Dr. Gerald McCully), and wife, Annette, George is survived by his sons Jeffrey (Catherine) and Todd (Diane), grandchildren Matthew (Heidi) and Logan (Justin). Loving Grandpa George to Great Grandchildren Maddox and Addison. Predeceased by Great Granddaughter Brooke. George served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 5 years, but found his true home in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in August, 1953, with Regimental Number 18268. A challenging career took him from Regina, twice to Washington D.C. and finally to Ottawa, when he retired in 1990 with the rank of Assistant Commissioner. George was a leader in his Church, ultimately serving as “Clerk of Session” for St. Timothy’s Presbyterian Church. His love of his wife, family, church and “the Force” provided him with a complete life. His humour, guidance, and kindness to all will be deeply missed. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Rd. on Monday, June 6 at 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on June 7, from 1:00 pm, followed by reception. (Beechwood Funeral Cemetery and Cremation Services)
