Born: 06 May 1916, Assiniboine, Saskatchewan

 

Died: 31 Oct 2003, Victoria, British Columbia

 

Retired from the RCN 06 May 1966

 

MCLEAN, Gordon James - Born in Assiniboine, Sask. May 6, 1916 passed away in Victoria on October 31, 2003 at the age of 87. Predeceased by his wife of 43 years Dorothy (nee Goodman) his parents Daniel & Lillian McLean, sister Margaret, twin brother Norman, brothers Wilfred, Gordon, Cliff and Harold and son-in-law Richard Black. Survived by his second wife Patricia Heaslip, Daughters Elizabeth (D'Arcy), Heather, Margarite (Steve) and sons Daniel (Penny) and Donald, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, step family Carolyn and Rob, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gordon lived in Regina, Sask. until 1953 at which time he moved his family to Victoria. He served in the RCN in both the North Atlantic and Pacific. He is a veteran of both the Second World War and Korea. After retiring from the Navy he worked on the Government Hydrographic ships from 1968-1983. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all of his loved ones. Gordon's family would like to thank his Doctors and Care Givers. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 91 on Station Road in Langford between 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. (The Victoria Times Colonist 02 Nov 2003)
