In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MacLEOD, Ian - Capt North, Nov. 5 - This community was greatly shocked to learn A.B.E.M. Ian MacLeod of H.M.C.S. "Outremont" was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the highway at Enfield, Oct. 30.
Ian was a native of Cape North and joined the Navy two years ago on Nov. 2.
A short funeral service was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack MacDonald at which place the remains were resting, then the funeral procession moved on to Cape North United Church. Service was conducted by Rev. K.B. Munro.
Hymns sung were "For Ever With The Lord", and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" by the Aspy Bay choir and the Cape North choir rendered very beautifully the hymn "Haven of Rest".
Burial was the the MacPherson cemetery. Pall bearers were A.B.E.M. Michael Powell, navy buddy of Ian, Malcolm MacPherson, Malcolm MacLeod, George Burton, Johnnie Wilkie and Gordon MacAskill
