George Nairn (Bud) Watt

WATT, George Nairn (Bud) - George (Bud) Watt Passed away in North Vancouver Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at the age of 83. Bud was born in Vancouver in 1925. He joined the Canadian Navy at 18 and served his country through WWII. In 1950 he married Eva Funk and they raised a family of four children in North Vancouver. There, Bud worked as a lumber worker until his retirement in 1985. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who took a keen interest in the community and sport activities of his children and grandchildren. Bud will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 58 yrs, Eva Watt of North Vancouver and his older brother, James/Jim Watt (Margaret) of Langley. Bud was predeceased by his brother John Watt, who died overseas serving his country in WWII (1945). Bud is also survived by his four devoted children: Gloria Lanctot (Richard) of Peace River Alberta, David Watt (Diane) of North Vancouver, Christine Watt (Howie) of Gabriola, Michael Watt (Liz) of North Vancouver, and Bud's loving grandchildren Chad, Tammy, Tyson, Melissa, Carly and Spencer. Bud will also be missed by his four great-grandchildren, his extended family of nieces, nephews, and his many friends. A memorial will be held on Monday, November the 10th, at 1pm at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 1700 Mountain Highway, North Vancouver, B.C. Reception to follow. The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of theLion's Gate Hospital ICU for all their care and attention. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lion's Gate Hospital Foundation can be made in the name of Bud Watt. (The Vancouver Sun and The Province 08 Nov 2008)

 

George's brother, John Arthur Watt, died in the explosion that destroyed the 29th Canadian MTB Flotilla in Ostend, Belgium on 14 Feb 1945.

 

George's brother, James William Watt, also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
