GILLESPIE, Ritchie Wallace Rutherford - age 86, of Dartmouth, NS passed away April 3, 2020 at the Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Born in Pennfield, New Brunswick he was the son of Charles Frederick Gillespie and Gertrude Eva Leland.
Known as Granddad to his grandchildren, Gill to his military friends and Ritchie to his family, Gill spent 25 years in the Navy as a stoker. After retiring from the Navy, Gill worked for a number of years as a commissionaire.
Survived by daughter-in-law Monique Gillespie, sons Gordon Frederick Gillespie and Donald James Gillespie as well as sister Mary Elisabeth Jardine (Gillespie). Also, grandchildren Christopher Eric Gillespie, Deanne Jacqueline Rose Gillespie and Breanna Gillespie as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by wife Marilyn Frances Spurr (2013), son Duane Caldwell Gillespie (2012) and brother Jesse Leland Gillespie (1999).
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Pennfield Baptist Church Cemetery. (Cole Harbour Funeral Home)
