CAPON, Lawrence Gillion (Larry) - It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Lawrence Gillion Capon, on September 2nd, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Larry was born in Balder, Manitoba a son of the late Maurice and Agnes (Trudel) Capon.
A Jack of all trades and avid family man, he would drop anything to help someone else. The navy called him east, where, after serving 8 years, he settled in Springhill to raise his family, finishing his career after 29 years with Corrections Canada. Being able to spend a long retirement traveling to Florida every winter with wife, Deanna, where they spent many happy years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Deanna (Wilson), three sons, Michael, Kevin, and Mark, and daughter, Marguerite; seven grandchildren, Christine, Michelle, Stephanie, Justin, Jessica, Megan, and Ben, as well as 11 great grandchildren; his sisters, Marge, Mona, and Diane and his brother, Leon.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Angela Lynn Capon; his brother Murray, and his mother and father-in-law, Felix and Ruby (Gouchie) Wilson.
Deanna and Michelle would like to extend our sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to every single person who provided care to Lawrence during his lengthy illness, especially Terri Wilcox and Laura Welsh, and all the lovely ladies with VON Cumberland; also to our own family for the continuous support you've shown him from day one.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Cremation has taken place, there will be no service at this time as per Lawrence's wishes. A family burial will take place at a later date.
