GIBSON, John Wood (Jack) - After a short illness at the Brandon General Hospital on Monday, May 11, 1981, John Wood (Jack) Gibson of 3007 Princess Avenue. Born in Blantyre, Scotland, Aug. 31, 1922, he came to Canada with his parents at age one and lived in Winnipeg until 1960 upon moving to MacGregor, where he served as district supervisor for Manitoba Hydro. Mr. Gibson moved to Brandon in 1971, remaining in the employ of Manitoba Hydro. Mr. Gibson served with the Royal Canadian Navy on board HMCS Battleford during the Second World War, 1941-1945. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch No. 247, Brandon. While living in MacGregor, he was actively involved in community affairs, helping to organize and becoming a charter member of the MacGregor Lions Club. Mr. Gibson is survived by his wife Ollie, a son Jack and daughter-in-law Pay and several aunts and an uncle. He was predeceased by both parents, John in 1974 and Emily in 1961. A memorial service will be held at the Brockie-Donovan Chapel, Wednesday, May 13, 1981 at 2 p.m. Rev. Ken Emmons of Central United Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
