CASSIDY, Ingram Morris - We mark the fast exit of our father, Ingram at the age of 95 on September 20th,2022 at Camphill Veteran’s Memorial with a virtual twenty-one-gun salute. He was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 1927 in Vancouver, British Columbia the only son of the late George Francis Cassidy and the late Ester Cassidy.

Ingram attended Point Grey High School in Vancouver and then enlisted in the Navy in January of 1945. He shared with Devon while they watched the Queen’s funeral that he was actually in London aboard the ship during her coronation. He retired from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer 1st Class in 1970 after travelling around the world. Then Ingram started a second career with the Province of Nova Scotia becoming the Personnel Director of the Department of Education. He retired from that position in 1992 at the age of 65. Deciding that Devon and Ainslee and their friends and cousins should have a flyer distribution route to teach them the family work ethic, he had a third career with the Halifax Herald as Manager of Flyer Distribution. He finally retired from the Herald at the age of 82 in 2009.

After living most of his adult life in Dartmouth, he moved to Halifax in 1987 and enjoyed condominium living in Summer Gardens with his wife Helen, where they hosted many significant celebrations with the Halifax and Charlottetown families. He moved to Camphill Veterans Memorial in February 2019 where he felt spoiled and well cared for. When Covid -19 hit and there were only designated visitors he was grateful to see Patrick and Ryan who kept his spirits up with stories and special treats until more of the family could visit. He loved the visits of his grandchildren and their partners, daughters- in-law and great grandchildren even up to the week before he died.

Ingram (Hoppy as he was known) was an avid curler, gardener, lawn bowler, chef and champion snooker player. He loved the jazz music of the Glenn Miller Orchestra and he and Helen were quite the swing dancers in the day. His volunteer activities knew no bounds as he canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society, Abilities Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society.

He is survived by sons: Michael (Mary Jane) Charlottetown, Patrick (Sarah) Halifax. Beloved grandchildren: Matthew (Cheryl) Charlottetown, Stephen (Mary Kate) Charlottetown, Christine (Nelson) Halifax, Ryan (Kate) Halifax, Devon (Niall) Halifax, Ainslee (Trevor) Halifax. Great grandchildren: Keefe, Molly, Gerri, Cole, Angus and Griffin. Niece Nora of Washington State and her family. Grand pups: Franklin and Evie.

He was predeceased by his wife Helen, his only sister, Mary Cassidy of Seattle, Washington, and his grand pup Riley who passed 17 days before him.

No visitation or funeral will be held. Cremation has taken place and a private family mass, interment and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences and sharing of memories can be sent to family at pc1069833@gmail.com.
