In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BRENNAN, Tommy - passed away peacefully in the Our Lady of Mercy Wing of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Toronto on Sunday. April 3, 2016 after a short illness.
He was the son of Jeannie Morrison Barrie and Thomas Brennan who immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1912.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie Dekin Brennan in 1966, his sister Marjorie Murphy, brother Stephen Brennan and his cousin Bill MacDuff.
He is survived by his loving daughter Wendy Brennan and her husband Paul Henne, and nieces Rosemary Miller (Terry) and Carol Anne Calderone (Gus) and nephew Gerry Murphy (Carol).
Tommy's strong Catholic faith sustained him throughout his youth, World War II, during his adult life and particularly in his senior years. He attended Mass daily for the past several years.
Tommy was a proud Canadian Naval Veteran who served convoy duty on the corvette, Ville de Quebec during WWII.
He loved being on the wafer and some of his happiest moments were skippering his own boat on Lake Simcoe with family and friends. He lived independently in his home for 67 years until the lime of his passing and had many active connections to his community. In addition to ’’the Brennan Gang” at Tim Hortons, he had warm friendships with neighbours, at the local grocery stores, in the ESS Support Services Day Program and at the Woodbine Casino.
Wendy and Paul would like to sincerely thank the team at Thornbrook Home Care. ESS Support Services and the dedicated nurses, doctors and staff of Ward 4 L Medicine in Our Lady of Mercy Wing for their compassionate care of Tommy over the past several years, months and days.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held on Friday. April 8. 2016 at 11 a.m at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. 3055 Bloor St. W.. Etobicoke. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.
Arrangements are entrusted to Turner A Porter Butler Chapel.
