In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HARPER, Richard Charles (Charlie) - passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 at the age of 78 at Ottawa Civic Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 16, 1944 to Archibald Henry Harper and Eva Bell Nellis "Vera". He was the loving husband of Gloria Jean Harper (nee Bryant) and the late Iona Davis. Predeceased by his siblings Madeline Goff (Percy), Janet Martin and Gary Harper (Brenda). Loving father of Cheryl Harper and step-father to Carolyn Bennett (Wayne), Dave Johnson (Denise) and Kevin Johnson and Sherry Johnson-Correia (John) and Shawn Johnson (Jenn). Grandfather to Azalea, Raya and Gema Atkin and step-grandfather to Terry Bennett. He will be dearly missed by his long-standing friend John Pitura (Linda). Charlie was a happy-go-lucky soul who loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing. Charlie He was a Canadian Navy Veteran stationed on the East Coast. He was a long-time employee of Croydon until it's closing. He also worked at Canadian Tire and was a Hershey commissionaire. There was a graveside service on Thursday, November 3, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at Cataraqui Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is welcoming donations to Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
