In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
FERGUSON, Donald James - On September 11, 2022 Donald James Ferguson “Fergy” of St. Albert passed away at the age of 80 years.
Left to remember him are his wife of 56 years, Mary “Lee”; daughters: Christine (James), Tanya (Jeffery), Barbara (Dave); grandchildren: Tristan, Sophie, Sam, Charlize, Mila and Dane; sister Kay (Ed); friend/nephew Dave as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Fern Upright, and his birth mother Ethel Ferguson Gueffroy.
Don was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. After attending high school at Victoria Composite he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, sailing throughout the Atlantic and Caribbean aboard HMCS Cape Scott. He attended NAIT to train as a Sheet Metal Mechanic and worked in the field for over 45 years, installing many furnaces around the Edmonton area. He took great pleasure in watching his grandchildren pursue their sports and activities. Apart from his family, some of his greatest joy came from cheering on the Oilers and the Eskimos, during good and tough years. He was an avid reader, loved antique cars, oldies music, and any vacation that took him to the sunshine. Don had an amazing sense of humour with a laugh that would often put a smile on your face.
At Don’s request, no service will be held.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Villa Marguerite and Unit 52 of the Grey Nuns Community Hospital for the compassionate and tender care they provided Don. (Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home Ltd)
