In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MOREAU, Blake - It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Blake Moreau, aged 67 yeas, on Thursday, February 6, 1992.
Blake leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 43 years Noella; his six children, Paul and wife Louise, Lucy and husband Dean Sloppler, Jean Ann and husband Paul Ferguson, Connie and husband Gary Whitlock, all of Winnipeg, Blake and wife Joyce of Saskatoon and Bill and wife Christine of Edmonton and 13 grandchildren, Tracey, Cathy, Jaime, Stephen, Mandy, Gordon, Michael, Andrew, Reid, Danielle, Stephanie, Thomas and Jill-Marie. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, George and his wife Edna, Anthony and Con and his wife Joyce. In addition to other family members, Blake leaves to mourn numerous friends. Blake was predeceased by his father Con Moreau; his mother Ann Patricia Moreau and his brother Jack.
Blake was born on June 17, 1924 in Edmonton, Alta. As a young boy his family moved to Winnipeg eventually settling in Arlington Street in the city's west end. He was educated at St. Edwards' School and St. Paul's College. After Graduation Blake enlisted with the Canadian Navy during the Second World War and served on HMCS ORANGEVILLE with the North Atlantic convoys. On September 4, 1948 Blake married Noella Van Landeghem and together celebrated a rich and loving relationship. They shared a deep spiritual faith which served them in strengthening their marriage bond. Blake was revered by his children and grandchildren for his vigorous commitment to family. Blake's qualities of love and devotion were not only extended to his family, but also to his spiritual community and his wife circle of friends. He retired in 1989 from Kuehne and Nagel after 25 years of dedicated service. His employment record included a wide array of experiences primarily in the transportation and warehousing industry.
As a resident of Transcona since 1959 Blake was a founding member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Blake tirelessly volunteered his time and talents in support of the parochial school, the Crescent Social club, the construction of the new church building and in numerous spiritual ministries. More recently he served as a Eucharistic minister with the Pastoral Visitation Committee touching profoundly the hearts and spirits of the shut-ins of his parish.
Blake was a People Person. His sociable personality influenced the lives of many; his winning smile and magnetism made friends of all who were privileged to make his acquaintance. His unique sense of humor, infectious laugh and warm heart were his hallmarks. Blake loved bowling and bingo, but bridge was his passion.
We reluctantly say good bye, but we are comforted in the knowledge that he has entered into eternal life, safe with his Heavenly Father. (The Winnipeg Free Press 09 Feb 1992)
