Able Seaman T. J. Hackett died of his wounds due to enemy action at sea when HMCS TEME was torpedoed off Lands End United Kingdom. He is buried in the Falmouth Cemetery, Cornwall, England.
Able Seaman Thomas Joseph Hackett, who enlisted in May 1942, at the age of 17, is reported to have died of his wounds due to enemy action at sea. He was buried in Falmouth Cemetery, Cornwall, England, on April 03, 1945. Able Seaman Hackett was one of two seaman highly recommended for remaining at their gun though badly wounded during an action involving HMCS SASKATCHEWAN. He was hit by shrapnel during the running fight with a German trawler but refused to report his injury until the fight was over. He was formerly an employee of the C.P.R. Angus Shop. After enlisting he had been on active service continuously since December, 1942. His parents came to Canada from Birmingham, England in 1924.
