LOVAT, Peter Kenneth, ERA, V27067, RCNVR, MPK - 11 Sep 1942, HMCS CHARLOTTETOWN - Son of Henry B. and Catherine S. Lovat, of Norwood, Manitoba.
Engine Room Artificer Peter Kenneth Lovat, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Lovat, 141 Kitson Street, Norwood, who is reported missing, believed, killed in action, in the sinking of the Canadian corvette Charlottetown by enemy action. Lovat, 23, came to Canada from England in 1920, lived in Québec province for ten years, then moved to Sudbury, Ont., where he received his education. He was employed by the International Nickel company at Sudbury until his enlistment there in the R.C.N.V.R., in February last year. A former member of the Saguenay crew, he was transferred to the Charlottetown as an engine room artificer. He has three brothers, Michael, a member of a Royal Canadian Engineers reserve battalion, Douglas, Montey, and one sister, Margaret, all of Winnipeg.
