In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ZBITNEW, Darren George Williams - was born in Abbotsford B.C. to Georgina Irene Zbitnew (nee: Williams) and David Richard Zbitnew. He is survived by his sisters, Beverley Warren, Tanya Zbitnew, Mona Bligh, and brother Gordon Bligh, as well as his beloved daughter, Dalia, and the apple of his eye, his grandson, Nicholas, who he lovingly called his little, "Mister-Man." Darren was a particularly bright child with an above-average IQ. As an adult, Darren was a voracious reader of books, especially history and science fiction. He enjoyed all things political and was a master at winning debates with friends and family. Darren was particularly proud of his service in the Navy, having served aboard the Restigouche from 1983 - 1993. He held several jobs after he retired from the Navy, but enjoyed his time working as a security guard at the Heartland Landfill the best. His favorite part was befriending the raptors and their handlers. Darren had many hobbies, including calligraphy, and astronomy. He studied Judo and obtained his black belt. His favorite pastime was spending his days off with his grandson, Nick, enjoying lunches at the White Spot, walks around Beacon Hill Park, and beachcombing at the Lagoon. Darren was a loyal friend, whose sincerity and wisdom will be missed. It's with heavy hearts we say good-bye. Farewell Darren - Fair Winds and Following Seas. Darren's father, David R. Zbitnew served in the Navy as a Radioman.
