LOWRY, Lyle Raymond - Born in 1939 in Oshawa, Ont., passed away peacefully in Dartmouth, on October 14, 2022. He is was the only son of the late Norm and Vera Lowry. He is survived by his wife, Joan; his sons, Michael and Shawn (Heather) and daughter Tanya. He also leaves behind his grandson, Justin, Samantha; and great-grandsons, Brody and Matthew; as well as his stepson, Gregory; granddaughters, Kelly, Danielle; and grandchildren, Logan and Haley. He will also be missed by many special nieces and nephews; in-laws, Keith and Velva, Steve and Wendy, Rodney and Janine; as well as countless others. In 1956 he began a long and decorated career with the Royal Canadian Navy where he progressed from leading seaman to Lieutenant and amassed a variety of awards and merits. He served aboard on numerous ships, from destroyers to aircraft carriers during his service with many deployments all around the world. His love of crosswords, crypto grams and scrabble will never be forgotten. He was a wordsmith in every sense of the word. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, able to fix or repair virtually anything put before him. To say he was a problem solver would be a huge understatement. But perhaps his strongest trait and accomplishment was his dedication to his wife of 61 years and his children to whom he taught priceless life lessons, over the years instilled values and morals that shaped them into who they are today. He will be dearly missed by so many people that he touched over the years. His devilishly handsome grin, perfectly coiffed hair and demure calm demeanour were appreciated by all and will be remember fondly. He was accepted into the Dalhousie Medical Sciences program as per his wishes where he will continue to give back after his passing. (The Saltwire Network 24 Nov 2022)
