In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
LOHNES, Marvin Richard (Marv) - passed away peacefully in Tsawwassen, BC on September 3, 2004, at the age of 82, after a long and determined battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Riverport, Lunenburg Country, Nova Scotia and served in the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax and St. John's, Newfoundland during World War II. He joined Air Canada in Halifax in 1946, working there and in Gander, Montreal and Vancouver, until retiring in 1983. Marv is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife Kathleen ("Kay") of 60 years and their sons, Paul (Christiane) of Toronto, Keith (Judy) and grandson Ryan of Sardis, BC and Bruce (Darlene) and granddaughters, Shannon, Janice and Kirsten of Langley, BC. Marv and Kay celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family on August 15, 2004. Marv enjoyed active retirement with travel, skiing, golf and gardening at home and at the Tsawwassen United Church. The family expresses special thanks to the care and attention given to Marv by the doctors and staff at the BC Cancer Agency, the nurses and staff at The Waterford in Tsawwassen, Peter Lemmer, and Glen and Mary Steeves. A memorial service to celebrate Marv's life will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:30AM at the Tsawwassen United Church, In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully appreciate donations, specifically designated for research in prostate cancer, to the BC Cancer Foundation, 200 - 601 W.
