DUNBAR, Eric - Born Alberton, Prince Edward Island, August 2, 1922, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Michael's Hospice, Burnaby on November 29, 2005. Survived by his loving wife Kay of 60 years and children John (Cami), Jeanne (Al), Joan, Judy (Gary), Tom (Brigitte), 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Brothers Fred (Sandy), Archie (Judy) of Prince Edward Island and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family. Eric is remembered for his wonderful hospitality, love of family, gardening and fishing. Courageous, determined and hard working, Eric ("Curly") was a valued employee of Empire Stevedoring Company for 28 years. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Harris, Nann and all the exceptional staff at St. Michael's Hospice. A Celebration of Eric's life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby, on Saturday, December 10 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to St. Michael's Hospice Centre, 7451 Sussex Ave., Burnaby, B.C. Eric, son of Lloyd M. and Bertha (Hardy) Dunbar, was born in Montrose, PEI and joined the Navy, serving in Canada, the UK and the North Atlantic. He enlisted at HMCS BRUNSWICKER from August 7, 1941 and served until October 10, 1945.

 

Eric's brother Lloyd George Dunbar also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.
