COOK, Desmond Bert William, Cook (S), V51070, RCNVR, died - 25 Oct 1944, HMCS SKEENA - Son of Bert and Lillie Cook, Vancouver, BC.
Cook (S) Desmond Cook drowned while trying to get a safety line ashore so that the remaining crew could be safely removed from SKEENA. His body later recovered near Reykjavik Harbour. He is buried in the Fossvogur Cemetery, Reykjavik, Iceland. Prior to enlisting in the Navy he was employed by Fraser Valley Milk Producers. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Elaine and Mrs. E. Kosh.
