STEWART, Kenneth William, AB, V36475, RCNVR, killed - 25 Oct 1944, HMCS SKEENA - Son of George L. and Helen Stewart, St. Catharines, Ontario.

 

AB Stewart drowned while trying to get a safety line ashore so that the remaining crew could be safely removed from SKEENA. His body later recovered near Reykjavik Harbour. He is buried in the Fossvogur Cemetery, Reykjavik, Iceland.  Before he enlisted in the Navy he worked as a labourer at a Paper Mill. 

 

Kenneth's brother Earl Robert Stewart also served in the RCNVR during the Second World War.

HMCS SKEENA - Served in SKEENA 30 Mar 1943 - 01 Jul 1943 as an OS and AB, RCNVR. Rated AB 02 Jul 1943
