In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MacLAREN, George Edward (Eddie) - We are saddened to announce the passing of George Edward "Eddie" MacLaren of Pictou on December 16, 2022, at the age of 83. He was a lifelong resident of Pictou. He felt he lived a full life, joining the Navy in 1959 and travelling extensively for three years until he came home to marry the love of his life, Barbara. After that he worked his whole life in jobs in the town of Pictou including the Hamilton’s biscuit factory where he always said, “I rolled the dough, but certainly was not rolling in dough”. His final job was the Registrar of Deeds for Pictou County which gave him great purpose and enjoyment. He retired in 1997, giving him the time to enjoy his property and family. He had a lot of lifelong friends who gave him great pleasure. He was a volunteer Fireman with the Town of Pictou for many years. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Constance (Webb) MacLaren. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Barbara (McCarville); and siblings, Linda, Nancy (Lloyd) and Peter (Janice); his children, Sherri (Mike), Glenn (Joan) and Corrine. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jared (Crystal), Josh (Candice), Katie, Colin and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Sutherland Harris and St. Martha’s Dialysis Units, Jennifer Anderson, NP, Dr. Kwasnik and staff of the Aberdeen Palliative Care for their great care and comfort. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the QEII Satellite Dialysis Site, Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Patient Comfort Fund. (The Saltwire Network 20 Dec 2022)
