BLAIN, Ronald George, AB, V22444, RCNVR, MPK - 08 Aug 1944, HMCS REGINA - Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blain, of Toronto, Ontario.
Able Seaman Ronald George Blain was reported missing as a result of enemy action. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Blain of Prospect Street, Toronto. Able Seaman Blain, age 23 who joined HMCS REGINA six months ago. As soon as war was declared Ronald joined the RCNVR and went to sea in June 1940. He has been at sea in corvette convoy duty since that time. Born in Rugby, England, he came to Toronto with his parents in 1929. He was educated at Winchester Street public school. In the many times he has crossed the Atlantic Ocean he has seen his share of action but every ship he was on always got through safely.
AB Blain died when HMCS REGINA was torpedoed and sunk off Trevose Head, Cornwall, England by U-667 while she was aiding a merchant vessel in distress. Thirty of her crew were lost.
