They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
SAULNIER, Joseph Melbourne, AB A/RDF 2c, V32223, RCNVR, killed - 08 Aug 1944, HMCS REGINA - Son of John and Daisy Saulnier, of Meteghan River, Digby Co., Nova Scotia.
Prior to enlisting in the Navy Joseph Slaunier served in the R.C.E. T.C. as a Sapper from 20 May 1941 - 04 Oct 1941.
AB Saulnier died when HMCS REGINA was torpedoed and sunk off Trevose Head, Cornwall, England by U-667 while she was aiding a merchant vessel in distress. Thirty of her crew were lost. His body was recovered and he was buried in the St. Merryn Churchyard, Cornwall, England on 14 Aug 1944.
