In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
OSWELL, Michael Gordon - Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Michael Gordon Oswell on January 15, 2023 in Victoria. Mike was born in Kelowna B.C. and was raised on a farm in Rutland. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Desmond, first wife Barbara, daughter Michele and son Derek. He is missed by his wife of 42 years, Muriel, sons Peter (Betty) and Jim (Donna) and daughter Mary (Mike), 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He also had a special bond with his niece Margaret (Ken). Mike was a veteran of the Second World War serving on HMCS Algonquin. Following the war, he attended UBC graduating with a B.Sc. in agriculture. His entire working life was with the B.C. Department of Agriculture, in Penticton, Vernon, Prince George and finally Victoria. He finished his career as Assistant Deputy Minister. Mike enjoyed gardening, golf, curling, fishing, and hunting. He had a great love for family and dogs. He was active all his life and as he said in his memoirs, "never bored". (The Victoria Times Colonist 21 Jan 2023)
