They made the Ultimate Sacrifice
SIMPSON, Frederick William, AB, V64048, RCNVR, MPK - 08 Aug 1944, HMCS REGINA - Son of Ernest James Simpson, and of Ada Simpson, of Montreal, Quebec.
Able Seaman Frederick William Simpson, R.C.N.V.R., who after being previously reported missing at sea is now for official purposes, presumed dead. He was the son of Mrs. Ada Simpson of 5769 Cartier Street and the late Ernest Simpson and joined the navy in July 1943. He went overseas the following year and was reported missing in the sinking of H.M.C.S. Regina last August. Besides his mother he is survived by two brothers and six sisters. AB Simpson died when HMCS REGINA was torpedoed and sunk off Trevose Head, Cornwall, England by U-667 while she was aiding a merchant vessel in distress. Thirty of her crew were lost.
