ALLEN, John Henry, MM, A2002, RCNR, MPK - 07 Sep 1942, HMCS RACCOON - Son of John Henry and Eliza May Allen. Husband of Hazel Josephine Allen, of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia.

 

MM Allen died when his ship, HMCS RACCOON, which was on convoy escort in the St. Lawrence River off the Gaspé Peninsula, was hit and sunk by two torpedoes from U165. All 37 hands were lost.  Prior to enlisting he was the Chief Engineer on "Ocean Transport 24" for the Saint John Tow Boat Co., Saint John, NB.
