LESLIE, James William (Jim) - The death of James William Leslie occurred on Thursday, September 9, 1999. Jim was born in Hanna, AB on April 18, 1920. James is survived by his wife, Irena; children, Carolyn (Ken) Glouser and Norman (Carmen) Leslie; grandchildren, Stacey and Sara Glouser; Andrea, Ian, John, Madeleine, Elizabeth and Bridget Leslie; and a great-granddaughter, Autumn Glouser. Also his sisters, Anna Talbot and Wilma Munro. He was predeceased by his parents, Georgina and John Leslie; sister, Jeanie and brother, Jack. After living in several communities in Saskatchewan, the family settled in Saskatoon. Jim was educated at Buena Vista Public School and Nutano Collegiate. In 1939, Jim joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served for five years in HMCS COWICHAN. After the war Jim worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs and then went on to work at the Internal Revenue Department, retiring in 1976. Jim married Irena Scharf on June 26, 1948. They had 51 great years together. After retirement, Jim and Irena enjoyed travel, spending time with friends, family and his beloved grandchildren and great-granddaughter. No funeral service will be held at Jim's request. There will be cremation, with interment at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
