GARDEN, Rayburn Vincent, ERA 4c, V25691, RCNVR, MPK - 06 Feb 1943, HMCS LOUISBURG - Son of Forrest Edmund and Mary Regina Garden, of Enfield, Nova Scotia. Husband of Dorothy Rita Garden, of Enfield, Nova Scotia.

 

ERA Garden died when his ship, HMCS LOUISBURG, which was on convoy duty in the Mediterranean, was sunk by bombs and torpedoes from Italian aircraft.

 

Rayburn V. Garden E.R.A. 4th Class was born at Dartmouth, N.S., on Apr. 13, 1920. He joined the service at Halifax on Feb. 06, 12943, and was lost at sea during enemy action. Later he was officially presumed dead. He was a steel sharpener when he enlisted and attended the Enfield School at Enfield, N.S. He married Dorothy Rita MacDonell who survives him with a child Colleen: hi parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forest Edward Garden; a brother, Jerome in the armed forces: five sisters and three younger brothers at home.
