During the Second World War John served in the Merchant Navy on several vessels. After the war he enlisted in the RCN at HMCS PREVOST and served until 1972. Upon released from the Navy John worked in Ottawa at NDHQ/DMEE as an Electrical Technologist until he retired in 1989. After retiring he moved to his hometown of Exeter, Ontario.
