George Alexander Aird

Born: 01 Mar 1931, Camrose, Alberta

 

Died: 06 Apr 1997, Victoria, British Columbia

 

AIRD, George Alexander - Born in Camrose, Alberta. Died in Victoria, BC at age 66. Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy in 1978.

 

He leaves his loving family: son, George (Cheryl); daughters, Mauretta (Mike) Watson, Maureen Pound, Cathie Aird and Jacquie (Stan) Vowles; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, MalvenAird and Ann Marie (John) Bourak, Helen (Art) Hein, brother Donald (Karen) Aird, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Joyce Wannamaker and Delores Coultish.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Sands Funeral Chapel, 317 Coldstream Avenue, Colwood, B.C. on Friday April 11, between 12 noon and 1:30 P.M. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.

 

A reception will be held in the Sands Arbour Reception Centre after the service. Cremation and burial arrangements entrusted to Hatley Memorial Gardens, Colwood, BC. Those wishing to may donate to the charity of their choice.

 


 

George served in the Royal Canadian Navy and in British submarines from 1959 to 1961. He took his submariner training in Scotland.

 

In the Jan 1953 edition of the Crowsnest magazine George is listed as a LSTDS. In the Nov 1954 edition, he is listed as a P2TD2.
