EADIE, Clifford John, AB, V35874, RCNVR, killed - 16 Apr 1945, HMCS ESQUIMALT - Son of Lillian Eadie, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
AB Eadie died when his ship, HMCS ESQUIMALT, was torpedoed and sunk by U-190 off the approaches to Halifax harbour. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
EADIE - It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Clifford John Eadie who perished while serving his country off the coast of Halifax on April 16, 1945. Cliff was born near Foam Lake Saskatchewan and later traveled to Saskatoon with his mother Lillian in 1929. He will be sadly missed and remembered for his fine whit, and courageousness. He is survived by his parents Joseph and Lily Eadie, his brother Wilford Eadie,and his two sisters Violet Partington (ne Eadie), husband John, Muriel Holtom (ne Eadie), husband Robert, as well as Nephews and Nieces. John will be returned home to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors. (Article transcribed from unknown newspaper)
