JOYCE, Ernest William - 79, Canning, Kings County, died July 12, 1992 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Diligent River, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late William and Eudora (Dean) Joyce. He taught industrial arts at Cornwallis District High School, Canning and Central Kings Rural High School, Cambridge, Kings County. He served with R.C.N. during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Habitant Branch 73, Canning. He worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Canning Baptist Church; past master of Scotia Masonic Lodge, Canning; past sword bearer of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia AF AM; and was active with Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. He is survived by his wife, the former Pauline Porter; three daughters, Dorothy Dean, Burnaby, B.C.; Betty (Mrs. Fred Camsell), Sardis, B.C.; Sheila (Mrs. Sherman Clayton), Hillsburn, Annapolis County; two sons, Dale, Canning; William, British Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Moreen Reid, Amherst; Mrs. Bayna Staples, Wolfville; Vera (Mrs. Garnet McLellan), Diligent River; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Tibbetts. The body is in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, where a legion service will be 7:00 p.m. today and where a lodge service will be 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Canning Baptist Church, Rev. Randy Legassie officiating. Burial will be in Hillaton Cemetery. Family flowers only.
