MATTHEWS, Paul Joseph, Sto 1c, V56844, RCNVR, MPK - 18 Mar 1945, HMCS GUYSBOROUGH - Son of James and Hazel Matthews, of Oshawa, Ontario; husband of Ruby Kathleen Matthews, of Beaverton, Ontario.
Stoker Matthews died when his ship, HMCS GUYSBOROUGH, was torpedoed and sunk by U-868 in the Bay of Biscay with the loss of 53 of her crew.
Paul's brother, James Mathews (Matthews) also served in the Navy during the Second World War.
