SIEMENS, Raymond Donald - (25 March 1935 - 17 March 2023) We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Raymond Donald (Don) Siemens on March 17, 2023 at the age of 87 after a long illness. Don joined the Navy in Vancouver, B.C. on 03 January 1954 and headed to HMCS Cornwallis for his Basic Training. After Graduation he headed West and cruised 2 years onboard HMCS Ontario. He then was sent to Halifax and HMCS Stadacona where he did his Electrical Training. In 1959 he was posted to CFB Esquimalt and then served onboard HMCS Skeena and HMCS Sussexville. Don eventually saw the light and Volunteered for Submarine Training. He served on both HMCS Grilse and HMCS Rainbow where he was the Chief Electrician. As an electrician he served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. His last posting was to 201 CFTSD in Longpointe, Q.C. After retirement from the Navy in 1979 Don stayed in Montreal and worked with Vickers Shipyard for a few years followed by a short stint with Electronic Engineering in Victoria, B.C. He also worked for 8 years with Saint John Shipbuilding helping to build new frigates for the Navy and retired for good in 1991 at the age of 56. Don is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 66 years, Dorothy Siemens (nee Mayne), sister Carolyn Treleaven (Jim), daughters Dawn Law (Sean), and Sandy McDonald (Mike), grandchildren Kevin (Lindsay), Meagan (Wes), James (Brandy), Heather (Brandon), and Seana (Tim), great grandchildren Colton, Wesley, Cassandra, Zelda, Izzy, and Kaden. He was predeceased by his daughter Valerie, (2021), mother Mary, father Frank, brothers Boyd, Dennis and Leonard, sisters Anne, Marge, Stella and Irene. Don was proud to serve his country and most proud of his long, happy marriage. He always said the key to a happy marriage was saying, "yes dear, you are right, I am sorry!" Don was an avid card player and especially loved Crib. Over the years Don participated in a variety of sports - fastball, squash, golf, running and in later years, took his daily walks very seriously. Anchors Away Don.
