CZOP, Robert M. - Was born February 18, 1932; he passed away on March 22, 2023, in Chilliwack, predeceased by his loving wife Arlene of 65 years, his son Graeme, and his grandson Jordan. He was survived by his sons Lance/Tracey, Jeff/Michelle and daughter Pam/Dennis, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Graduated from Van Tech High Vancouver. Robert joined the Navy at HMCS Discovery. He served on 10 HMC ships, his first HMCS CRUSADER in Korea. He truly loved serving. He was the Cox'n of HMCS GATINEAU and HMCS PROVIDER. He was honoured in his final year of service to be appointed Deputy Command Chief Petty Officer in Esquimalt. Robert requests no service or flowers, donations to a charity of choice is suggested. Born in Edmonton, Alberta 18 Feb 1932. He was educated in Edmonton and Vancouver. He joined the RCN at HMCS DISCOVERY on 15 May 1953 and served until 09 Dec 1978. He joined as an Armourer's Mate and took his basic training at HMCS CORNWALLIS and his Armourer's Mate training at the Ordnance School in HMCS NADEN. He later specialized as a Torpedo Armourer then as a Weaponman Underwater.
He served in HMC Ships Crusader, Sussexvale, Cayuga, St. Laurent, Fraser, Skeena, Qu'Appelle, Mackenzie, Gatineau and Provider. He served as Coxswain in Gatineau and Provider. He served as the school CPO at Fleet School Esquimalt, and as the CPO i/c Gold platoon at the Warrant Officer Qualifying School. He was appointed to the position of Deputy Command Chief Petty Officer in February 1978 and retired from this position.
He married Arlene in 1954 and they had four children: Pamela, Lance, Graeme and Jeffrey.
