NICHOLSON, Mervin Lyle - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mervin Lyle Nicholson on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the age of 87. Born and raised in Regina, he met Sandi, the love of his life and shared 67 years of marriage. The first five years serving with The Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax, Merv and Sandi returned to Regina to raise their family. After a few odd jobs, Merv found his true calling of entertainment, comedy and the love of people, as a bus driver; first with The City of Regina and then as a Greyhound driver for 37 years. Merv was a great sportsman who enjoyed playing softball, hockey, curling and golf. He was a true artisan, a talented wood carver, painter, drawer and calligraphist. Merv leaves behind his loving wife Sandi; son Tim (Dolores); daughter Leslie; grandchildren T.J. (Amy), Kyra (Blair Klassen), Benjamin (Nicole); seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur, and Grace; brother Raymond; and sister Shirley. Though our hearts are sad, we rejoice in knowing that Merv is now home with his Lord Jesus. A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina, SK, on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Diane Gilford officiating.
